Luke 11:37-12:3

Jesus gets passionate with the Pharisees… Why?

They add to scripture: washing

They cleanse the outside of the cup: rule keeping. They tithe their cooking spices, but don’t care about justice.

They puff themselves up before others. Best seat, highest praise of men. In this they are like unmarked graves… Making people unclean and not realizing it. They are leading others astray.

They weigh people I down with burdens…many extra biblical rules…

They don’t own their past… Trying to build tombs for the prophets that their fathers killed…

They studied the law so much, but they didn’t apply it…v.52

So, why is Jesus so freaked out at these Pharisees? Because they don’t understand grace…
