How important is the foundation of your house?

How important is the foundation of your faith?

The foundation of our faith, and thus our hope is how we got to be who we are. What is the ground that your identity is built on? What is the beginning of your story of faith? in this text, Paul lays out pretty succinctly the form that we all were in before our identity was changed.

You were DEAD!! If you are in Christ, you were dead, if you are not in Christ, you are dead. There is no two ways about it. You were dead in your trespasses and sins. And not just some of us, verse 3 says we all once lived in deadness… Now, What were the evidences of this deadness? 
 a. Followed the course of this world. We exhibit our state of deadness when we are attracted, and become infatuated with this world. Worshipping the creation rather than the creator. 
 b. Followed the prince of the power of the air. We show that we are dead when we believe the lies of the enemy, the same lies he told our first parents Adam and Eve in the Garden, “you too can be a God”
 c. carried out the desires of the body and the mind. We show our deadness when we are ruled by the lusts and desires of our flesh. Dead people don’t fight temptation, they do whatever their bodies crave. Weather that is power, or money, or sex, or even a desire to feel better about themselves. If you live your life following whatever you want to do without thought of what god thinks about your actions! you might be dead.
You were a child of wrath! Romans 1:18-23
It was in our nature that we were children of wrath. Romans 5:12-14 we deserve wrath because our sin is against God.
In Christ You were made alive!!
 a. Saved From Sin
 b. Seated with Christ.
 c. Shown grace for today and tomorrow.
