Greetings Church Family!
First of all I would like to express my deepest thanks to you for the opportunity to be the interim pastor of Emmaus Christian Church! If you had told me three months ago that come July, I would be the interim pastor of this church, I would not have believed you. It seems that God has been working in all of our lives to bring this about. All praise to our Lord Jesus for HIs faithfulness to this church and to my family, that now we can say that we are a part of this church family.
As I am now in the second official week of my work here, I wanted to give you an update of what I have been doing, and what I hope to accomplish in the weeks ahead. My first week was spent with the help of my wife Rebekah getting my office set up. My parents had our children at Myrtle Beach for the week so we had ample time to paint, decorate and finish sentences. Please feel free to stop by to visit, check things out and leave a note on the chalkboard if you like. If you see a Toyota truck parked outside the office, it is probably me, please feel free to stop by for a visit. I have set aside the days of Monday, Thursday and Friday to be working specifically at the church office. I may be in and out to meetings and such during those days, but hope to be there the majority of the day. If you have a specific need to discuss something, or would like to set up a meeting for a specific purpose, feel free to give me a call or send and email to set that up.
I was able to attend my first Board of Stewards meeting this week and I came away with a real excitement for what God is doing here and all the possibilities that lie ahead of us. The thing that has most endeared me to this group is that they seem to be mostly looking at what God is doing, and how God has been working in this church. That is a refreshing thing these days when many churches are so prone to purely pragmatic discussions.
Looking to the weeks ahead, my main goal is to get to know folks. I will begin calling through the church roster and asking you if you are free to get together in the near future. I hope to have meetings with any member/regular attender and folks who have suspended their involvement who are willing to meet with me. My family will also be packing lunch for our family on Sundays to eat after the fellowship time. If you would like to join us, please bring a lunch as well and we can spend some time together talking about whatever you like.
Bottom line, we are very excited to be here at Emmaus! Thanks for all that you have done to make us feel welcome and loved!
